Department of Psychology

Psychology is the connection of applied, educational and theoretical science. It is the study of behavior, performance and the mental operations of people. It is also in reference to the usage and application of skill, knowledge and understanding various activities undertaken by humans and how they are used through daily activities, whether that is within events, talking to people, education and employment, relationships and even treating mental health issues. There are sub-areas of psychology, including in sports education, business and media, physical conditions and even human development. It involves other areas of study, including humanities, natural sciences and the social sciences. Psychology is important as it helps me in understanding myself better, it helps me to perceive things positively and it assists me in determining the things that I enjoy doing the most and the kind of stuff I like to write about. It also contribute a lot of great help in the way I handle things in life, the way I face challenges and problems that occurs at an unexpected time and of course the way I make decisions in my everyday living.
Psychology is important as it is concerned with the study of behavior and mental processes and at the same time, it is also applied to many different things in human life. Everything we perform is very much related to or with psychology. Psychology, primarily studies who and what we are like that, why we act and thing like that and what we could be as a person. The study of human behavior and the mind is intriguing. In addition, people tend to live busy lives without stopping or having time for stopping to think of emotions or analyze situations / experiences and how they drive our choices and lives. Often we allow our emotions to control our lives rather than to stop, analyze, or think things through and make decisions based upon this analysis. Emotions may result in devastating decisions while choices bases upon a thorough analysis may result in positive emotions and outcome. In addition, various researchers have studied a wide variety of family illnesses and individual mental illnesses, and this information along with experiences professional are available to assist as needed with the knowledge of past and recent studies.

Scope of Psychology

The subject matter of our science is then the soul or mind. The Psychologist investigates those phenomena which we call sensations, perceptions, thoughts, volitions, and emotions, he analyzes them, classifies them, and seeks to reduce them to the smallest number of fundamental activities. He studies the nature of their exercise and the law which govern their operations, and he endeavors to enunciate a body of general truths which will accurately describe their chief and most characteristic features. But psychology cannot rest here. Whether it wishes it or not, Psychology is inevitably a branch of Philosophy. It cannot remain satisfied with the mere generalization of facts; it must pass on to inquire into the inner nature and constitution of the root and subject of these phenomena; it must seek to explain the effect by its cause. Consequently a work which does nothing more than describe and classify the operations of the mind, omitting all discussion regarding the mind itself, is but an abortive attempt at a science of Psychology. La Psychologies sans a men, is Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark. What is the meaning and values of life? What are We? Whence come We? Whither go we? These have ever been questions of profound interest to the human race, and it is the belief that Psychology can throw some light on them which has always vested with such importance this branch of Philosophy.
